How Cannabis Affects Men And Women Differently

Like it or not, the cannabis world has always been stereotyped as a boys club. But, after being widely underrepresented, and as the industry evolves, women are gaining more and more of a voice. So, as new, more inclusive studies are done, we’re now learning how cannabis affects women versus men.

By the sounds of it, women are lucking out! Here’s why.

1. Females produce estrogen.

Little known fact: estrogen is like a magnifying glass for THC, requiring less cannabis to feel “high,” especially in the days leading up to ovulation. Many see this as beneficial as cannabis is known to be a great remedy for period pains, mood swings and other discomforts.

2. Women build up a tolerance to marijuana faster than men.

Even though females have that aforementioned estrogen boost, after some time, they may need a little extra to reach their desired level of elevation.

3. THC is also more of an effective aphrodisiac in women than with men.

While some studies suggest strains with lower THC counts are considered a sexual stimulant for women, others show any amount of THC will do.

A key thing to remember, though, is that you have to listen to your body. Start low, go slow and know your limits. You want to make sure that every experience with cannabis is a blissed one.
